Misheard Lyrics

Happy Christmas (War is Over) is not a song I hear often, but for some reason I have heard it about 10 times this season already. I've always thought the lyrics were:

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any beer.

I always thought it was odd that the Christmas song would sing about lack of beer. I guess I thought it was part of a mothers against drunk driving campaign or something.
