3 Shopping Days until Christmas!

I am always shocked when people are still in the midst of Christmas shopping this late into the season. Christmas wrapping not done, yet? That I understand a bit more. I just finished mine two days ago.

I went to a shopping area today to pick up lunch for myself and started to circle looking for a parking space and got lucky with a good spot near the restaurant. I could not believe the traffic, the lines, and the lack of joy on people's faces during the "most wonderful time of the year."

I can't help but think if people took joy in gift giving rather than seeing it as a chore, they probably would enjoy the season a bit more than they do and at least the joy would be restored to the late-in-the-season shoppers.

Don't get me started on the traffic! I'm just glad I survived the ordeal.

New Parking Lot

At work, they put in a new parking lot to accommodate the new science building they are putting in. I have been among the first to be asked to park in it.

There isn't anything like being one of the first cars to pull into a freshly bricked and painted lot. The lines are visible; the potholes do not exist.

It is the simple joys.

Simple Joy

As I type, String Bean is sitting on the floor playing with a teddy bear and the plastic zipper covered case that it came in. Now she's move on to my pajamas which are, for some reason, in the living room. Rolling around on the floor enjoying the simple things. (Ah, now the shoes are coming off!)

We should all take a lesson from our kids and take simple joy everyday, not taking what we have for granted but being thankful for what we do have.

Apparently my foot is very interesting now.
