Jelly Bean's Thoughts

My sister was really grossed out by the different terms I used for breast milk when String Bean was a baby. Mommy milk, yummies, milky treats...String Bean has decided breast milk is "Mommy juice" and whenever Jelly Bean starts crying, String Bean pipes up, "Jelly Bean needs Mommy juice!"

If Mr. Bean is changing Jelly Bean's diaper and begins to wail, String Bean will announce what she assumes is Jelly Bean's thoughts on getting her diaper changed: "Daddy, it's cold!"

Apparently, those are Jelly Bean's only thoughts in life so far. Says String Bean.

Grape Extravaganza

I typically cut up 30 or 40 grapes at a time and fill a small tupperware container with them so I don't have to cut the 3 or 4 that String Bean will eat at every meal and dirty up a knife and cutting board multiple times a week.

The ENTIRE tupperware container I cut up the other day has gone untouched until today. In the 15 minutes I've been sitting in my rocker checking my email and facebook, String Bean has eaten almost the entire thing!

This is truly amazing feat from a child who never eats more than she absolutely has to. It helps when you aren't in your high chair and you have a little chair just your size to sit in I suppose.

Now to look forward to some dirty diapers with lots of grape skins!

Oh, and congratulations to my friend Emily on the birth of her daughter, Rory!

Recap of Day One

Day One of potty-ing did not go well. We had pee on my lap and poop in the closet, but nothing on the potties. We had lots of running and some spinning along with a little bit of sitting. Singing and clapping helps to keep them engaged, but too much singing and clapping leads to dancing. While dancing is fun, it is not sitting on the potty.

Bribery is not getting us very far, either. Filbert has promised them a puppy when he doesn't have to buy diapers anymore and also a frog to the first one that gets anything in the potty. They each have a chart for stickers, but so far, no stickers have been earned.

A Gentle Reminder

Sometimes, even the most seasoned of mothers needs a refresher and I am here to help.

First of all, before ripping a diaper off a toddler and flinging it open, always check to make sure that there are not a thousand little poop drummels in said diaper. I think that is clear enough.

Secondly, when a child, who has been complaining of a tummy ache, says that he thinks he is going to throw up, DO NOT PAUSE!!!!!!! You must spring into action immediately, fling the nursing baby away if you have to! Quickly move the vomitus child to a toilet or other nearby receptacle. Then make sure the child is actually done puking before beginning the clean up. Under no circumstances should you allow the child to wander the house aimlessly while puking in multiple rooms.

Just remember, I fail, so you don't have to.
